What We Do

Turnkey energy solutions

We work on both sides of the meter by planning, designing, installing and financing microgrids and clean energy for medium to large sized customers.

A decentralized grid promotes energy independence, security, and efficiencies that were not possible just a few years ago. Management has pioneering and leading experience at developing complex microgrid solutions that will increasingly enable the disintermediation of the 100-year-old hub and spoke centralized power plant with miles of transmission lines that are nearing the end of their useful lives today.

The entire management team has been in renewable energy since the early 2000s when utility executive derided solar and wind as fringe technologies not capable of becoming baseload generation. Today, with the rapid evolution of energy storage, several US markets are capable of constructing solar plus storage to create baseload solar, and the market is expanding rapidly

Our team cut its teeth developing utility scale wind projects starting nearly 20 years ago. While the industry has matured, most development nowadays happens at the utility scale end of the spectrum. However, at HMP, our niche is integrating smaller wind projects at smaller commercial and industrial applications such as grid remote mining operations that have needs for distributed generation projects to improve power quality and reliability.

The workhorse of 100% renewable energy is storage. The only way to balance load with intermittent generation safely and with bankability is with storage. The rapid expansion of the global BESS supply chain have lowered LCOE to the point where its cheaper than alternatives – it wins on economics

Assessment

When a customer comes to us, we will conduct a Needs Assessment reviewing their operations and circumstances such as their power demand profile, geography, facility footprints, financial outlook and specific tariffs to design a system that works. During the Needs Assessment, we will quickly determine suitability at no cost to customers. If we cannot find the right solution, we will simply recommend deferment of any projects that don’t make financial sense.

Energy Plan

After our initial screening process, we will prepare an Energy Plan outlining the vision, goals and timetable for the implementation as well as alternative structures for the microgrid and its financing. The next steps will include prioritizing the needed projects, bidding out the work for the microgrid, choosing the means of financing the project, negotiating a power purchase agreement and ultimately, overseeing of the construction of the project.

Financing

We provide one stop shopping for financing energy projects whether it be Build Transfer projects or traditional power purchase agreements. Our investor group offers the entire capital stack from construction financing through monetization of state and federal incentives.

Design & Construction

At HMP we serve as owners advocates to achieve the lowest cost per kilowatt hour whilst improving reliability. We have in house design capabilities to design distributed energy projects and solicit bids from vendors to make sure we’re always getting the most cost competitive packages. We are technology agnostic and design specifically to meet client’s needs which are often a combination of energy sources such as CHP, wind, solar, or battery energy storage. We leverage a client’s existing infrastructure to achieve the most optimal energy design rather than trying to simply cover the entire footprint with solar panels.

Operations & Maintenance

O&M services are critical for the long term operation of distributed energy resources and microgrids. As these are long term 20 year plus projects, it common that batteries degrade, solar panels get damaged, inverters need replacement parts, and warranty claims need to be filed, in addition to the paperwork, such as accounting services, that need to be attended to. We offer different levels of services depending on each customers’ unique circumstances. Please contact us for more information.

Our team members have an average of 20 years experience

We have helped develop large scale renewable projects for in-front of the meter applications. With over two gigawatts of systems across the country put in the ground we understand large scale power. From wind and solar to storage systems and combined cycle energy generating stations our team has the experience to develop systems for utilities, cities and corporate customers.

The management team helps our clients to  maximize their clean energy use through the development of behind-the-meter applications and solutions.

Gain Control Over Your Largest Variable Expense

Energy Independence. We Make It Possible

Financial

Hosting a renewable energy project can bring incremental revenue to your business either through lower energy prices and lease payments.

Long Term

Purchasing renewable energy through a long-term agreement enables you to lock in a substantial portion of your energy bill at a competitive rate for 15 to 20 years.

Green Badge

On-site renewable energy production delivers an enviable green marketing edge in today’s competitive marketplace.

Zero Risk

HMP assumes all development and financial risk for the project.

Participation in Upside

HMP has the ability to offer hosts additional financial participation in projects, delivering true ownership of the project back to you.

Security

Renewable energy is no longer simply an environmental issue; home-grown renewable energy offers the fastest path to energy security.

Is it Right for My Organization?

Energy Needs

For most companies, energy cost is one of the largest variable expenses. If your power bill exceeds $100,000 per month, then chances are you would benefit from hosting a renewable energy system.

Land Availability

Typically a wind project requires 60 acres per MW, while solar requires a minimum of 5-6 acres of open space (or in excess of 250,000 square feet of roof space) per MW.

Resource Quality

In order to make projects financeable, certain unobstructed resource thresholds must be met for both wind and solar projects.

Transmission Access

Is your facility in close proximity to transmission infrastructure? Unless it’s a small behind the meter project, wind projects typically need access to 34.5kV transmission lines or greater.

Envirometal Considerations

If your business is located in a dense urban area, solar would be the preferred option. However, if you’re more remote and meet the above criteria, then wind might be the right direction for your company.

State Characteristics

Some states currently do not allow competition in the energy market. If your state does promote energy competition, chances are we can come up with a plan that will work.
